New River Primary is a very proactive school, and believe in the holistic approach when considering the needs of their low decile students and their families. Students are empowered to develop and drive positive strategies such as formulating playground zones, or the health team leading smokefree competitions. So...with the support of Gina, and Steph- the students who run road patrol will form the RoadSafety Council. Students have determined that Term 3 will have a safe and responsible pedestrian focus. A specifc safe and responsible pedestrian key message will be presented in each assembly and repeated in the school newsletter, spreading the road safety word to parents, whanau and the wider community. Students will be rewarded if they are 'spotted' displaying the key safety behaviour between assemblies- with names being recorded and placed in a draw. Awesome Ideas Team!
